Accessibility Statement
Chartwell Shipping Ltd., headquartered in Montréal, Québec, is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities (handicapped persons). We treat people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity, autonomy and independence, and we are committed to meeting their needs in a timely manner in both English and French.

Chartwell Shipping Ltd. ("Chartwell," "we," "our"), with its head office in Montréal, Québec, is committed to providing our goods, services and facilities in a way that respects the dignity and autonomy of people with disabilities (handicapped persons). We are committed to giving people with disabilities the same opportunity to access our services and allowing them to benefit from the same services, in the same place and in a similar way as other customers, employees, partners and visitors.

Legislative Framework
As a federally regulated freight forwarder and customs broker based in Québec, Chartwell aligns its accessibility practices with:

The federal Accessible Canada Act (ACA, S.C. 2019, c. 10) and the Accessible Canada Regulations.

The Québec Act to secure handicapped persons in the exercise of their rights with a view to achieving social, school and workplace integration (CQLR c. E-20.1).

The Québec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms (CQLR c. C-12), which prohibits discrimination based on a handicap or the use of any means to palliate that handicap.

Chartwell Shipping also complies with the Charter of the French Language (CQLR c. C-11) and provides accessibility information and services in French and English.

Customer Service
We are committed to excellence in serving all customers, in French and English, including people with disabilities.
Our staff are trained to:

Welcome service animals and support persons accompanying customers on parts of our premises that are open to the public.

Notify customers promptly of any planned or unexpected disruption to facilities or services they rely on.

SECTION 4
Assistive Devices
People with disabilities are permitted to use their own personal assistive devices to access our goods, services and facilities. Where a personal assistive device cannot be used for reasons of health, safety, or confidentiality, we will work with the customer to identify another way to provide our services.
SECTION 5
Communication
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take their disability into account. Upon request, we will provide, or arrange for the provision of, accessible formats and communication supports for information about our services. We will consult with the person making the request to determine the suitability of the format or support and provide it in a timely manner and at no additional cost.
SECTION 6
Website and Digital Content
Chartwell Shipping strives to ensure its website conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and that French and English versions of digital content offer equivalent accessibility.
Ongoing measures include:

Alternative text for meaningful images and ARIA labels for interactive controls.

Sufficient colour contrast between text and background.

SECTION 7
Training
Chartwell Shipping provides training to all employees and third parties who deal with the public on our behalf, as well as those involved in developing customer service policies. Training covers the requirements of the Accessible Canada Act, the Québec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms as it pertains to handicapped persons, the Act to secure handicapped persons in the exercise of their rights, and practical guidance on interacting with people who use assistive devices or who are accompanied by a service animal or support person.

Employment
Chartwell Shipping is committed to fair and accessible employment practices in compliance with the Québec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, the Act respecting equal access to employment in public bodies principles where applicable, and the federal Employment Equity Act for our federally regulated activities. We accommodate handicapped persons during recruitment, assessment and selection, and throughout employment, up to the point of undue hardship. Individual accommodation plans and return-to-work processes are available for employees who require them as a result of a disability.

Notice of Service Disruption
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to facilities or services used by people with disabilities (such as elevators, accessible entrances, or the customer portal), Chartwell Shipping will provide notice that includes the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if any.
SECTION 10
Feedback Process
In accordance with the Accessible Canada Act and the Accessible Canada Regulations, Chartwell Shipping has a designated person responsible for receiving feedback on accessibility. Feedback may be submitted in French or English by email, telephone, in writing, or in person, and may be submitted anonymously. We acknowledge feedback (other than anonymous feedback) in the same manner in which it was received and aim to respond substantively within ten (10) business days. A description of our feedback process is available in alternate formats on request.
SECTION 11
Accessibility Plan and Progress Reports
As required by the Accessible Canada Act, Chartwell Shipping publishes an Accessibility Plan that identifies, prevents and removes barriers in the areas of employment, the built environment, information and communication technologies, communication, the procurement of goods and services, the design and delivery of programs and services, and transportation. The plan is prepared in consultation with persons with disabilities, is updated at least every three (3) years, and is accompanied by annual progress reports. The plan and progress reports are available on this website and in alternate formats (print, large print, braille, audio, and electronic formats compatible with adaptive technology) on request.
